 The purpose of texting: to text her to the point that you know that she'll be excited when you call. when you feel that she's excited for you to call her, text her "hey Suzie, let's hang out soon" and then call her

 Don't set up the meet-up or date through texting. Call the girl because working out logistics and schedules by text is tedious and impractical.

 Texting should be playful banter, and NOT asking her if she likes you or asking for a date

 The first texts shouldn't require a response from the girl. So don't text anything like, "What are you up to?" or "How was your night last night?"

 You can role play with the girl over text and use pull push; for example, pretend she's your girlfriend and pretend to break up with her (push) and then fall in love (pull). "you'll be my new text message girlfriend" ... "I love u" ... "now we're broken up"... "it's not you, it's me"... "it was fun while it lasted"... "I kind of miss you, damn it"... "I'll do whatever it takes to win you back"... "what are you doing to me???", etc, etc. Just be silly and funny and unpredictable with push and pull.

 If a girl doesn't respond to your first texts, you want to grab her attention and spark her curiosity. "Fuck you" or "why do you do this to me". Do that as a last resort. Keep texting and texting being unpredictable until she responds.

Can you give us an example of what the first texts should be?

I often text a statement "OMG i just saw this drunken irish man try to walk through a glass door it was hilarious"

Now in the above text i am not asking her for a response. If she chooses to respond its upto her.
