I haven't posted here is a long time, but still breeze through the forum from time to time. After having been in this for a fifth year, I have come to the conclusion that in spite of one's best efforts, be it time in the field, boot camps, 1 on 1 trainings, and other efforts, short of living with a mentor, this PUA learning curve is almost flat for a long time before it begins to accelerate at a certain point when all the pieces have been internalized and begin to come together. I can imagine that most guys who begin this journey will not stay in it long enough to benefit from magic that begins when this curve begins to accelerate. While I am not there yet, at this sweet spot, this game begins to become really enjoyable, as one gets flashes of brilliance from time to time, with those flashes of "Yes! It's coming" becoming a huge motivator. I wonder if others have experienced this? Cheers, Kojo
Have you done 1 on 1 trainings and not gotten much benefit? Going out with a mentor is good... even if the only thing the guy does is force you to go out, keep you accountable. It all depends. Depends if you're in a big city or small town with few opportunities. Depends if you think doing 1 approach a week is a big deal or if you're doing 10 a day. Depends if you're relying on routines to minimize risk or if you enjoy the chaos and uncertainty of always throwing out new stuff based on the moment. Depends if you go out once a week so that you're continually losing momentum, or if you go out every day to build momentum. Many habits contribute to slow growth; but there's also no reason one can't experience fast growth spurts with more frequency with the right habits.
Interesting insight! One point you made that hit home is that my going out only twice a week because of a heavy work schedule means that I just might be losing momentum during my off days. I will have to cut back on my work schedule to speed up my pua process! I live in NY, so that is a huge advantage! I average about 15 approaches per week, and document these in a journal. I've had three 1 on 1's, benefited greatly from one, but not so much from the other two. Prefer not to mention names.
Yeah if your goal is to improve quickly, twice a week probably won't cut it. What you should do is go out daily, just for an hour (think happy hours) just to stay fresh. Monday might not have much going on, so just talk to ANYBODY. Or do day game since you're in NYC. That way when Friday hits, you hit the ground RUNNING and you're excited about going out... and NOT "shaking off the rust".
Great! The 1 hour/day happy hour is very manageable in spite of my current work schedule. Will incorporate that in a commitment from now! That habit together with my Friday and Saturday nights out should make a difference! Will post my progress in a month!
